Gilbert's Gallery
Take only photographs - leave only footprints
The Photographer
Gilbert started taking photos at the age of 10 with a very simple camera he borrowed from his dad. Now his pictures from around the world are mostly urban landscapes with the occasional rural landscapes and portraits. What attracts him most is colour, especially using the subtle lighting seen during dawn and dusk. His travels have allowed him to take pictures in many countries around the world and his hope is that when you see one of his pictures you will wish you were there. In 2007 he was awarded the LRPS by the Royal Photographic Society.
The Cameras
The pictures are taken using both film and digital media, whichever is the most appropriate for the picture. His favorite format is the 3:1 panoramic (letter box) style because it’s just more natural - like the view seen by the human eye. For these pictures he uses a Fuiji GX 617, Pentax 67II and a Hasselblad XPan; film is almost entirely Fuji Velvia. For more conventional shaped pictures he uses Nikon equipment - a D2X, D200 and a Coolpix 8700.
Customers
Beside being published in photographic magazines, many large companies and organizations have used his images in their brochures and calendars. These include Glaxo Smith Kline, University of Surrey, Astra Zeneca, World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine, PathfinderICS Ltd, Roche Products Ply and Oxford University Press.
